A four-phased approach As we are finalizing the definition of Q-BoK to ensure clarity throughout ASQ, we also want to share our four-phased approach to fulfilling the Q-BoK. Phase 1: Organize what currently exists at ASQ and to benchmark what exists elsewhere. That is, "organize ASQ's Body of Knowledge which includes the 12 areas of certification specifications, with related texts, courses, as well all other ASQ texts, courses and all journals and archives. A committee will also work with interested parties to formulate and integrate the knowledge of the AQP Forum with the ASQ body of knowledge." Phase 2 Take a broader benchmarking approach to assess other national quality organizations, such as Baldrige, leading corporations and other training and consulting groups with a special focus on the quality knowledge available on the web. Phase 3 Phase 3 will integrate the wisdom of Phase 1 and Phase 2 into a single Quality Body of Knowledge under the ASQ trademark, Q-BoK. This step will identify inconsistencies and gaps, and achieve a logical integration. The Q-BoK will be a variable information resource, available in multiple forms with many applications. It will be customized for various industries and categories of customer needs (from the expanded membership model) and generate new publications and delivery mechanisms for the ASQ Q-BoK. Phase 4 Phase 4 calls for the development of new materials from Q-BoK to enable ASQ to better serve the needs of an expanded ASQ membership and to better serve various groups of members, industries, levels of interest, learning modes and learning styles.
