Edwards Deming, if he were alive today, would remind us that “it is the System STUPID!”  Most companies enter the Lean process with existing operations, existing practices, existing staffing… only to find that they can’t effectively and quickly reconfigure their production and enabling assets – people, equipment, methods and information technology to meet the changing demands placed on a business.  So when they are forced to make critical decisions to keep the company afloat, they cut the very capability they need to produce excellence – their people.
